A little history...

The mule first appeared in the Middle Ages. It was initially reserved for magistrates and religious leaders before being adopted by noblewomen in the 17th century.

At the time, these shoes were adorned with high heels and noble materials (such as silk and precious stones). Women wore them only indoors and they gradually became a symbol of wealth.

In the 19th century, however, mules were associated with prostitution given the ease with which they could be removed.

It was Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe who restored their prestige and glamour in the 1950s.

The flat mule manufacturing workshop

It's in the heart of Tuscany, in the traditional cradle of Italian leather, that we discovered the workshop that makes our mules. Here, the word "family" takes on its full meaning, as the owners, together with their daughter, have been making quality leather shoes for 25 years!

Together, over the years, they have developed a unique experience resulting in an unparalleled depth of color and a distinctive patina. The workshop itself takes care of dyeing each piece of natural leather in the mass, then patinating them one by one manually.

The heeled mule manufacturing workshop

Hidden away in the beautiful hills surrounding Porto, Portugal's traditional shoemaking region, the workshop has been operating for almost 50 years.

It is with great professionalism that this small workshop has gradually specialized in the manufacture of women's shoes in urban and contemporary styles. The expert hands of this handful of artisans perfectly work the materials and dexterously handle the tools and machines necessary for the creation of quality women's shoes.
