Article: The recycling centers

The recycling centers

Booming in recent years, recycling centers have made a place for themselves in the daily lives of citizens, in the era of "vintage" fashion. And it's a place for smart, responsible, and social fashion! But what are these shops where well-hidden treasures are sometimes found? A few explanations...

What is a recycling center?

A recycling center is a store that houses goods or equipment that are still in working order but whose owner wishes to dispose of them through reuse or repurposing. This process fits perfectly with the circular economy and recycling approach.

These stores educate consumers about recycling and reducing their "waste." These are what we call eco-citizen actions: selective sorting, second-hand products, object care, responsible consumption, etc.

In addition to contributing to waste recycling, recycling centers contribute to social cohesion in neighborhoods. They seek to reconcile economic activity and social equity by offering their products at very reasonable prices, but that's not all! These little gems offer the possibility of professional reintegration for people in difficulty.

This virtuous circle aims to raise awareness among both young and old about consuming differently. This is also JULES & JENN 's vision: consume better to consume less!

The 3 Rs

La Ressourcerie also embraces the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. These three values motivate its work for the environment, the solidarity economy, and transparent cooperation with all.

Reduce : The main objective of the 3Rs is to reduce waste. This step is difficult to implement, and must begin with manufacturers, who have long been accustomed to over-packaging their products. At JULES & JENN, we favor paper and cardboard materials, while trying to limit packaging as much as possible.

Reuse : It's true that, when possible, it's always better to reuse than to throw away! In our consumerist society, many products have become obsolete and are thrown away, even though they could be given to recycling centers or charities to be repaired! Think about it next time?

Recycle : Many everyday objects are thrown away without recycling them... even though they are recyclable and could have a second life! Glass, paper, and plastic are also used as energy sources, as are child car seats and watering cans.

Please note that the recycling center does not replace the role of the waste disposal center; they are complementary!

The recycling center's primary mission is to contribute to the reduction of waste, which is costly for the community and a source of pollution for our environment. Indeed, its action reduces the volume of waste that ends up in landfill or incineration, and therefore positively impacts costs for the community.
