The beanie manufacturing workshop, France (Lyon)
This Lyon workshop was founded by two brothers in 1871. Taking over the business of their father, who was then running a ribbon factory, they created their own structure, specializing in three areas of activity: weaving, embroidery, and the production of ribbons and woven labels. Now taken over by a couple of entrepreneurs, our partner workshop can pride itself on being the leading industrial embroiderer in France.

The workshop and JULES & JENN
In total, six generations have succeeded one another at the helm of the company. An innovative and prosperous business until the 1990s, the rise of outsourcing has not made it bend. The workshop continues to offer products 100% made in France but has suffered from its clients' foreign outsourcing. Today, the company has adapted its production facilities to be more flexible and respond to small and medium-quantity orders. Driven by a desire to always do better, the workshop has distinguished itself by its constant adaptation and differentiation. Since 2008, it has been offering the manufacture of hats for the sports and ready-to-wear sectors. Fully aware of the climate emergency, the workshop now offers "eco" fibers. These fibers are worked around three materials: French yarns, upcycled yarns, and yarns made from recycled raw materials.
It is this dynamic, focused on the future and imbued with environmental respect, which particularly appealed to us and which gave us the desire to collaborate.

The making of the beanie
Based on the design, the worker creates the computer knitting program that will create the knit of the beanie. The wool panels are then knitted in the chosen material and color. To make the wool as supple and soft as possible, the panels are then passed over a steaming table. The beanie then takes shape in the manufacturing workshop. On some models, a fleece lining can be added for unparalleled warmth. A pompom can also be attached to the top. A pompom machine connects the different colored threads together. The finishing, which gives the pompom its beautiful round shape, is done by hand with scissors. The woven JULES & JENN label is hand-sewn onto the beanie. Finally, the hat is slipped into its 100% recycled plastic bag. All that's left is to place it on your head.
