The rain boot manufacturing workshop, France (Beaupréau)
Nestled in the Cholet countryside, the factory was founded in the aftermath of World War II and specializes in the manufacture of rubber shoes. Now in the hands of the fifth generation of the family, it has successfully reinvented itself year after year. Refusing to relocate its entire production abroad, the company continues to sustain its business by multiplying innovations, centered around the safety of its materials.
The workshop and JULES & JENN
A family business renowned for its expertise, it's its focus on environmental issues that convinced us. The company works exclusively with 100% recyclable PVC, which is phthalate-free. With a lifespan of over 15 years, this material gives our boots the status of a truly sustainable and desirable product! To go further, the brother and sister currently running the workshop are investing in recycling their plastic scraps to reintegrate them into the production cycle.
Sharing our desire to promote more sustainable and ethical fashion, we began our collaboration with a wardrobe essential, to be worn from autumn to spring: thus was born the first JULES & JENN rain boot 100% Made In France!
Shoe making
Rain boots are manufactured using the injection molding method. To begin, a series of molds corresponding to the type of shoe you wish to produce must be selected. Next, PVC granules of the desired color are heated. They soften until they become liquid and are then injected into the mold, taking on the imprint. It is possible to inject one color for the upper—the top of the shoe—and another for the sole. After cooling, excess rubber is trimmed and removed, and the ends are polished for a soft feel. The elastics are then manually sewn on by stitchers, allowing for a quick and easy fit. Exterior decorations are also added in an additional step. Finally, the shoe is pampered to smooth out any remaining imperfections. The shoe is finally placed in its JULES & JENN box. All that's left is to slip your feet into it.
