4 shoe trends for back-to-school 2023

If the start of the school year is often synonymous with getting back into (good) habits, it is also the perfect opportunity to intelligently renew our wardrobe, starting with our little feet, and without forgetting our commitments! To do this, we asked Louise, our Product Manager, to give us her predictions in terms of major upcoming trends in her specialty: shoes. The result? She predicts for the fall/winter 2023-2024 season a wave of creativity and daring but also a return to the essentials, because this year more than ever, trends reflect both the evolution of aesthetic tastes and a heightened awareness of sustainability . So, whether you are a fan of sturdy ankle boots, a fan of timeless style and natural shades or you prefer to explore innovative styles, this season has something for you!

1. The revisited “chunky boots”

Chunky boots (those sturdy boots or ankle boots with thick soles) will continue to dominate the fashion scene this fall/winter, but they're getting a makeover. Known for giving our outfits a bold look, they're making a comeback with ever-thicker, more vertiginous soles, unexpected textures, and metallic details. Versatile and versatile, they're ideal for a bold style, and can be worn with skirts to create a mix of styles.

2. The comeback of the ballerina

We've always been told that "fashion is a constant renewal," and today the comeback of ballet flats proves it! Originally designed for ballet dancers, they have evolved over the years to become city shoes with many variations: patent materials, elegant details, or bolder prints. Adopted by influencers and always present at Fashion Weeks, they always seduce with their French style and comfort for trotting around town. With a pencil skirt or flowing pants for the office or combined with jeans and an oversized sweater, they will be desirable for everyday wear.

3. The call of nature

With the growing importance of sustainability and connection with nature, the fashion world must adapt, and the footwear industry is no exception. Color-wise, we can expect to see tones inspired by Mother Nature this fall/winter. Indeed, shoes in earthy shades such as brown, beige, camel, cognac, olive green, and burgundy will be very popular, as will animal prints (leopard print, crocodile effect, etc.). Furthermore, organic and sustainable materials will also be present, with options such as aged leather, suede, and vegan alternatives.

4. Mix and match!

In 2024, we'll be mixing everything up! This winter season will see the strengthening of an already daring trend that consists of mixing different styles of shoes and clothing (the famous Mix and Match in English) to create unique and personalized looks. Here, we call for breaking the codes and making creative combinations. You will see surprising combinations, such as sporty sneakers worn with elegant outfits, classic loafers paired with visible socks and formal style shoes worn with casual pieces. This trend encourages experimentation and creativity in fashion and allows us to "reinvent" looks with pieces that we already have in our wardrobe, without over-consuming - great idea, right?
