A little history...
Fashion is constantly changing and some accessories or clothing don't have the same function over time... Zoom in on heeled ankle boots !
Let's take, for example, the case of the high-heeled shoe, which dates back much longer than we think.
For the record, figures from Ancient Egypt, 3500 BC, show the Egyptians of that time (already) wearing heels.
This fashion was then found in 16th century France when Catherine de Medici, wife of King Henry II of France, launched the high heel trend, with a sole designed to elevate the midfoot. She wore heels at her wedding to the king in 1533.
In the 16th century, heels were used for horse riding because they were an effective tool for getting into the stirrup and ensuring better support in the saddle. In the 17th and early 18th centuries, heels were worn only by noblemen, both men and women. During the reign of Louis XIV, only court favorites were allowed to wear heels... in red.
After the French Revolution, the fashion for high heels fell by the wayside as they were considered a hallmark of nobility for the middle class. Heels didn't reappear until the mid-19th century when a shoemaker created heeled ankle boots for Queen Victoria of Great Britain. It was from this period onward that heels became exclusively feminine. Since then, heels have been accessible to most women since they were no longer a luxury item.

Hidden away in the beautiful hills surrounding Porto, Portugal's traditional shoemaking region, the workshop has been in operation for nearly 50 years. As with our workshop in Elche, Spain, a father and daughter are now at the helm.
It is with great professionalism that this small workshop has gradually specialized in the manufacture of women's shoes in urban and contemporary styles. The expert hands of this handful of artisans perfectly work the materials and dexterously handle the tools and machines necessary for the creation of quality women's shoes.
