Women's shoe-making workshop, Portugal (Porto)
Hidden away in the beautiful hills surrounding Porto, Portugal's traditional shoe-making region, the workshop has been in operation for nearly 50 years. As with our first workshop in Spain, a father and daughter are now at the helm.
It is with great professionalism that this small workshop has gradually specialized in the manufacture of women's shoes in urban and contemporary styles. The expert hands of this handful of artisans perfectly work the materials and dexterously handle the tools and machines necessary for the creation of quality women's shoes.

The workshop and JULES & JENN
Since you don't stumble upon this type of workshop in the middle of the Portuguese countryside by chance, we had to show our credentials before meeting the team of this shoe-making workshop.
Working together immediately proved to be a pleasure, both because of the owners' character and the craftsmanship and quality of the shoes produced. Instantly convinced by the merits of our offer of essential women's wardrobe items, the father and daughter immediately set to work creating JULES & JENN shoes.
At regular intervals, we collaborate on the development of new models, the selection of materials, the choice of colors, and the assembly options. And our collaboration remains guided by JULES & JENN sustainable fashion credo: timeless style, comfort and fair price.

Shoe-making
Based on the design, the pattern maker creates the pattern for the various parts that will make up the shoe. Using punches, the cutter cuts out, manually or with a press, the different parts of the model from the chosen material. The pieces must be carefully cut to avoid natural defects in the leather. The parts making up the upper - the top of the shoe - are then sewn together. The internal reinforcements and counters are sewn or glued. External decorations are also added. The upper is then placed on a mold, varying according to the size, to be attached to the inner sole. Depending on the model, the sewing, gluing, sanding, and drying operations follow one another. Finally, the leather outsole is attached, first by gluing, sometimes by sewing. After a drying time, the shoe is assembled. The mold is then removed from the shoe. The final touch is the attachment of the insole, which is the visible insole on which the foot rests. Finally, the shoe is pampered to smooth out any remaining imperfections. Delicately wrapped in tissue paper, the shoe rests in its JULES & JENN box. And all that's left to do is to slip your feet inside.
