Welcome to Nahia: the JULES & JENN x Atelier Tuffery denim espadrille!
Do you love our espadrilles? You'll adore our new project… We are thrilled to announce our unprecedented collaboration with the historic French denim manufacturer Atelier Tuffery to create, exclusively and in a limited edition, our first French espadrille… made of denim! Our challenge will be yours: to reinvent this iconic piece from the South of France, respecting the values of heritage, sustainability, and eco-responsibility that are so dear to both our brands.

Designing a new espadrille that's more sustainable than ever is great. Doing it with you is even better! That's why, following a casting call, we recently selected four "budding designers" to co-create the espadrille of your dreams with our teams. Yves, Solange, Mathieu, and Aurélie have become the designers and ambassadors of this unique project!
The moment of truth has arrived, and we are proud to present their sustainable and responsible choices for this espadrille, which will be traditionally crafted in southwest France. Indeed, we have partnered with Atelier Tuffery to have this unique piece made in Mauléon, the espadrille capital, in a small Basque family workshop where traditional know-how is passed down from generation to generation!
Ready to discover our espadrille, a perfect blend of eco-design and tradition?
Firstly, our designers agreed on the choice of a unique, local and natural fabric: a 100% hemp twill woven by Tissages d'Autan in the Tarn region. Indeed, hemp was chosen unanimously because it is traditionally the main component of the espadrille, but also because it aligns with our eco-design approach: it is an ecological fiber that does not consume irrigation water, chemical inputs or pesticides, and also offers significant robustness.
Next, they agreed on the design of the back panel: it will be beige with red stitching to subtly evoke the colors of "Made in France"! The edging thread will be red, adding a touch of vibrancy to this summer classic and brightening up the slightly heathered, eco-friendly canvas. The inner trim will be navy blue for a guaranteed tone-on-tone effect! Finally, the key detail of our espadrille will be the decorative rivet, recalling the "denim" look we love so much!

With our budding designers having made their choices, we unveiled the prototype of our upcoming denim espadrille. However, it was missing one last thing before its launch: its name! To involve our community in this unique collaboration, we recently asked you to vote for your favorite name on our social media.
You chose it, our espadrille is called NAHIA!
Nahia is a Basque name meaning "desired" and embodying strong values such as family, ethics, and balance. First and foremost, our espadrille is crafted in a family workshop in Mauléon, the historical capital of espadrilles in the Basque Country. Furthermore, the values conveyed by the name Nahia perfectly resonate with our shared values with Atelier Tuffery. Naming our denim espadrille Nahia is therefore entirely fitting.
