The True Cost: Must See!

“The True Cost,” a descent into hell behind the scenes of low-cost fashion!

The documentary "The True Cost" reinforces JULES & JENN's approach to responsible fashion

From Asian factories to Manhattan's major fashion brands, dive into the behind-the-scenes hell of low-cost clothing manufacturing with the documentary "The True Cost." Filmed over two years in nearly 13 countries and featuring gripping testimonies, the documentary "The True Cost" is shocking and its findings damning: the human consequences of cheap fashion are far too serious to remain silent about!

Backstage, we discover the price to pay for producing low-cost fashion, far removed from the glitz and glamour. The low-cost fashion industry doesn't worry about decent working conditions or its environmental footprint.

And as proof, the suburbs of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, were the scene of a very sad scene. On April 24, 2013, the Rana Plaza, a clothing factory for Western brands, collapsed. More than 1,100 people perished under the rubble. This catastrophe shook the entire world. However, since this tragedy, nothing has really changed. The major brands have not really kept their promises, as proven by the repeated incidents that continue.

Advocacy for eco-responsible businesses

Faced with this inaction, Livia Firth decided to produce "The True Cost," a documentary that reads like a pamphlet against the fashion industry. Colin Firth's wife is no stranger to this endeavor. A sustainable development activist for around ten years, she founded "Eco-Age" to help companies behave more eco-responsibly.

"In the last twenty years, we've seen the development of a new phenomenon called fast fashion," analyzes the producer. The goal of this documentary is to raise awareness about the reality of fashion. 80 billion items of clothing are manufactured each year by a sea of anonymous faces, often victims of a system that imposes its laws, sometimes showing so much respect for human beings.

Since its inception, JULES & JENN has embraced the vision of sustainable and responsible fashion. This positioning is based on respect for the environment, our partners, and our customers. And that's why we wanted to talk about the documentary "The True Cost."

So if you too want to buy better, support eco-responsible companies like JULES & JENN, and favor craftsmanship and know-how made in France and made in Europe.
