A little bit of history...

Fashion is constantly changing, and some accessories or clothing items don't serve the same purpose over time... Let's take a closer look at heeled ankle boots !

Let's consider, for example, the case of the high-heeled shoe, which dates back much further than we think.

As a side note, figures from Ancient Egypt, 3500 years BC, show Egyptians of that era wearing (already) heels.

This fashion reappeared in 16th-century France when Catherine de Medici, wife of King Henry II, popularized high heels with soles designed to elevate the midfoot. She wore heeled shoes at her wedding to the king in 1533.

In the 16th century, heels were used for riding, as they were an effective tool for mounting in the stirrup and ensuring better support in the saddle. In the 17th and early 18th centuries, heels were worn only by the nobility, both men and women. During the reign of Louis XIV, only court favorites were permitted to wear heels... in red.

After the French Revolution, the fashion for high heels fell out of favor, as they were considered a mark of nobility for the middle class. Heels only reappeared in the mid-19th century when a shoemaker created heeled boots for Queen Victoria of Great Britain. It was from this period onward that heels became exclusively feminine. Since then, heels have become accessible to most women, as they are no longer a luxury item.
