As with handbags, the artisanal production of small leather goods - wallets, card holders, clutches - has become rare in France in recent decades. Today, independent workshops can be counted on the fingers of one hand, and preserving artisanal know-how is a real challenge. At JULES & JENN, we recognize the value of our partner workshop, located in Graulhet, in the Tarn region. Run by a couple of artisans, this small workshop capitalizes on their experience accumulated over more than half a century.

With the evolution of the small leather goods market and the tough competition from foreign workshops, from the Maghreb or Asia, this workshop has always strived to serve French brands. After several contacts, the owners were convinced by our desire to produce small leather goods with high-end finishes and to offer them to our customers in a responsible way, in complete transparency .
We first worked together on the first models that constitute the heart of the JULES & JENN small leather goods range at its launch. Spending time in this workshop in Graulhet means learning the secrets of meticulously crafting wallets and watching their expert hands perform these gestures again and again with perfect mastery. It also means benefiting from a unique know-how to pass on to future generations.
Making a wallet
Based on the drawing, the pattern maker creates the pattern for the different parts that will make up the wallet. Using punches, the cutter cuts out, manually or with a press, the different parts of the model in the chosen material. The pieces must be carefully cut to avoid natural defects in the leather. In small leather goods, the key step is trimming the edges to give them the thickness of cigarette paper and to create perfect seams and edges. Other operations include filleting, dyeing the raw-cut edges, gluing, drying, adding decorations, and hot stamping. The pieces are then sewn together. Finally, the wallet is pampered for an impeccable finish before being tucked into its JULES & JENN box. Now it's ready to follow you in your bags and pockets or to be given as a gift on any occasion.
